Looking good at Goodwood...

When Sarah, from our accounts team, told us she was going to Goodwood this year, we begged her to take loads of photos... And she did! Not only that, she told us all about it and a little bit about what Goodwood means to her...

'Goodwood Revival  -  an annual event not to be missed.  I have been going for 17 years, which is how long the event has been on.'

As Lord March says, ‘a magical step back in time’  -  the idea behind the Revival is to celebrate the Goodwood Motor Circuit when it was in existence as a racing circuit, which means between 1948 and 1966 – when it closed.  Prior to 1948, it was a World War II airfield, RAF Westhampnett.

'The whole ethos of the event is to “dress the part”   in any period between the War years, up to 1966 styles.'

Blast from past

Almost everyone comes looking the part, be it in a Forces uniform, Land Girls, late 1940s fashion, 1950s, up to the Teddy Boys and Mods & Rockers of the early 1960s.  The whole Circuit is set-dressed, with no jarring items  (cash machines are put inside old red telephone boxes, rubbish bins are old oil drums, for example).

'The best part, of course, is the cars  -  all in period and housed in authentic paddock garages.'

'It does not have the feel of a fancy dress party, rather it feels as if this is how it is meant to be all the time.  I wouldn’t miss it.'
