Books we love: Our top 3 coffee table favourites

Switch off the TV and blow the dust off those coffee table books that you've hardly looked at since you bought. It makes for a great night in. We keep these ones on our desks as they've been so inspirational for this season's collections and we wanted to share them with you. Here are our top 3, for their celebration of vintage fashion and pure escapism:

Pool side Slim Aarons

1) Slim Aarons - Poolside

It's cold and grey outside, it's raining. Pour yourself a gin & tonic and open this book. You'll be transported to St Tropez, Beverley Hills and Palm Beach in the 50's, 60's and 70's where high society are sun bathing, hosting cocktail parties or just lounging at their private pools. These vintage photographs, with the soft focus sparkling blue water and high glamour, are what first switched us onto Slim Aarons and now we keep a close eye on the next retrospectives held at the Getty Gallery.

In the Spirit of Miami Beach

2) In the Spirit of Miami Beach

We met the fabulous Patti and Karl Stoecker last year in Miami and they had this book on their coffee table. Patti  is an ex-model turned vintage fashion curator from New York and Karl is a music photographer (Roxy Music, a total 70s glam rock aficionado), their home is the kind of Miami Beach house you step into and don't want to leave. In the Spirit of Miami Beach takes you from the  20's and 30's art deco influenced architecture  to the 60's and 70's sun seekers, it's a glorious technicolour celebration of Miami Beach. We follow Patti on Instagram for a daily dose of Miami sun @pattistoecker

Resort Fashion

3) Resort Fashion: Style in sun-Drenched Climates

Pucci playsuits, Chanel beach pyjamas and the history of the bikini, this retrospective on resort fashion studies Summer fashion at its most fun and fabulous. We particularly enjoy the chapters on 'stripes'  and 'prints' and you'll see how much we love both of these in this season's collections (just no beach jim jams).
