We travel the world hunting for inspiration in flea markets, textile fairs, thrift stores and vintage shops, looking for an amazing print, a striking colour palette, a visual trigger that sparks the creative design process. We weave the trends that we’ve spotted on the streets of Portland or markets in Milan into our designs at Fever, creating unique collections that stand out. Here are our top vintage fashion or interior hot spots from around the world:

Lulu’s Vintage, Portland, Oregon

We discovered Lulu through some press cuttings from the Telegraph a couple of years ago and when we met her we were thrilled to find that she’s an oracle of vintage knowledge on the Portland area. Armed with our maps and notes, she helped us to plan a vintage hunting route via some of the best stores in town, including her own fabulous treasure trove. She’s a vintage authority worth chatting to if you’re heading there, check out here blog.

The Braderie de Lille

Known as Europe’s largest flea market, the Braderie de Lille  is quite an event on the flea market calendar, attracting up to 2 million visitors. From antique dealers to people selling their wares on tea towel outside their home, you’ll find all sorts of gems but more interior pieces than fashion. You can barter all night long as trading doesn’t seem to stop and you’ll be tucking into the traditional mussels and chips served in all restaurants. Come armed with plenty of stamina to get through the crowds and comfortable shoes. Don’t do what we did, buy a deckchair on the other side of town and carry it home, negotiating the crowds while it dangerously turns inside out.

Shareen Vintage

OMG! This place is amazing! With stores in NYC and LA, the team at Shareen Vintage are fabulous at spotting a stunning dress. The shops are so well merchandised that you can spend hours feeling like you’re in the 1960s wardrobe of a Beverley Hills socialite or you’ve walked into the closet of a studio 54 devotee, surrounded by 70s GLAMOUR. Well worth a good look.

Beyond Retro

Still holding a strong place in our heart is this vintage fashion mecca. Be prepared to riffle through the rails as they’re packed tightly with treasures. Whether you’re looking for a prom dress, well-worn denims, 50s pinafores or retro ski wear, Beyond Retro is  your one stop shop. With stores now in Soho, Dalston, Brick Lane and Brighton, it’s still the Brick Lane location that gets our hearts racing with the idea of finding something truly amazing to wear out tonight.

We’d love to add to our list! Send us your favourite vintage boutiques, flea markets or thrift stores….tell us where you love to shop.
